Cork is made from the bark of the cork oak tree, not animals. No cows are harmed in the making of Quirk bags. No trees are harmed either - cork bark is carefully removed from trees when harvested, leaving the trees completely healthy and in tact.
Harvesting the bark from a cork oak tree actually increases its ability to absorb carbon dioxide. During the natural regeneration process following careful stripping of the bark, a harvested cork tree absorbs five times more carbon dioxide than non-harvested trees.
Cork is an extremely durable material, well-suited to handle the wear and tear of everyday life. It is water-resistant, stain-resistant, and even flame-resistant, so you can be sure your Quirk bag will age gracefully from season to season.
